Katsuras are native to Japan and China where they can reach over 100 feet tall. It is a fast growing tree that is sensitive to drought and likes a deep, moist soil. The mint green summer leaves turn yellow, orange and red in the fall. You can often catch the scent of burnt brown sugar or cotton candy released by the leaves in the autumn. This is a dioecious tree (male and female flowers on separate trees).
