The Manchurian Fir or Needle Fir is a large evergreen coniferous tree that is native to parts of North Korea, Russia and China. It is rarely seen in New England, but can make a fine ornamental plant as this individual clearly demonstrates. This huge specimen is the largest of its kind in Connecticut. True firs, including A. holophylla, produce chunky, upright cones near the top of the tree that mature and disintegrate while still attached to the branches.
